This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how we share it, and the choices you have. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use Friendship. 1. WHO WE ARE Friendship is a social platform designed to help people meet through shared activities, campus plans, messaging, and optional verified dating features ("Sugar"). INFORMATION WE COLLECT 2.1 Information you provide • Account details: name, email address, password (or sign-in via Google / Apple), school or community affiliation, graduation year, bio, interests, and profile photos. • Identity and safety content: government ID or student verification documents when you request verification or apply to Sugar; date of birth where required for age checks. • Content you create: posts, captions, photos, reels/videos, stories, comments, likes, chat messages, meetup pins, plans you host or join, gifts, and reports you submit. • Support communications: messages you send to us through contact forms or email. • Payment-related details: when you buy tickets, subscriptions, gifts, or wallet top-ups, payment is processed by our payment partners (such as Stripe). We receive limited payment metadata (for example, payment status, last4, and transaction IDs), not your full card number. 2.2 Information collected automatically • Device and app data: device type, operating system, app version, language, time zone, and diagnostic/crash information. • Usage data: features you use, screens you view, search queries, connection quality, and approximate interaction timestamps. • Push notification tokens: so we can deliver call alerts, messages, and other notifications you enable. • Log data: IP address, browser type (for the website), referral URLs, and server logs needed for security and operations. 2.3 Location information If you grant permission, we may collect precise or approximate location to show people nearby, place meetup plans on a map, and improve local discovery. You can disable location access in your device settings; some features may work with reduced accuracy or not at all. 2.4 Communications features When you use voice or video calls, we use third-party real-time communication providers (such as Agora) to transmit audio/video. Call signaling metadata (for example, who called whom and call status) may be stored by us. We do not use call content to train advertising models. 2.5 Cookies and similar technologies (website) Our website may use essential cookies and similar technologies for authentication, security, preferences, and basic analytics. You can control cookies through your browser settings. 3. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION We use personal information to: • Create and manage your account and profile. • Provide social features: feed, stories, people nearby, plans/meetups, chat, gifts, and calls. • Operate Sugar dating features for eligible, consented users, including application review. • Process payments, subscriptions, ticket orders, and wallet activity. • Send service notifications (messages, calls, plan updates, security alerts). • Verify identity or student status, prevent fraud, and keep the community safe. • Moderate content, investigate reports, and enforce our Terms of Service. • Improve the Service, fix bugs, and develop new features. • Comply with law and respond to lawful requests. 4. HOW WE SHARE INFORMATION We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with: • Other users: profile information and content you choose to share (posts, plans, messages you send, call participation) are visible according to product design and your settings. • Service providers: hosting, databases, email/SMS, push notifications, maps, payments, media storage, analytics, and real-time calling providers who process data on our instructions. • Legal and safety: when required by law, court order, or to protect rights, safety, and security of Friendship, our users, or the public. • Business transfers: if we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction under appropriate safeguards. Third-party platforms (Google, Apple, Stripe, map providers, Agora, and similar) have their own privacy policies when you use their services through Friendship. 5. DATA RETENTION We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described above, including: • Account data while your account is active. • Content you posted until you delete it or your account is deleted, subject to backups and legal holds. • Transaction and safety records for as long as required for accounting, dispute resolution, fraud prevention, and legal compliance. When you request account deletion, we delete or anonymize personal data that is no longer needed, except where we must retain it by law or for legitimate safety/fraud reasons. 6. YOUR CHOICES AND RIGHTS Depending on where you live, you may have rights to: • Access the personal information we hold about you. • Correct inaccurate information. • Delete your account or certain data. • Object to or restrict certain processing. • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent (for example, location or marketing). • Export a copy of your data in a portable format where applicable. Device permissions: you can revoke camera, microphone, photos, notifications, and location access in your phone settings. 7. CHILDREN AND AGE REQUIREMENTS Friendship is not intended for children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have collected such information, we will delete it. Sugar and related dating features may require additional age verification and consent. 8. SECURITY We use administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information (including encryption in transit, access controls, and monitoring). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. Please use a strong password and protect your devices. 9. INTERNATIONAL TRANSFERS We may process and store information on servers located in different countries. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers. 10. AUTOMATED DECISION-MAKING We may use automated tools to help detect spam, abuse, or policy violations.
